Professor Bokkie Blaauw, right, has just received The Advancement of Biokinetic Practice Award at the annual Biokinetics Association of South Africa awards ceremony, held in Pretoria in October. This award is given to someone who has made a definite contribution to the advancement and development of biokinetics in practice on the private and public sector. Professor Blaauw has been involved in the functioning and development of biokinetics in South Africa. He started the Biokinetics Centre at Stellenbosch University in 1986, and Professor Blaauw and wife Becky Blaauw have had their private practice for 21 years in Somerset West. He has worked and helped many people from all walks of life, from top sportsmen to the elderly.
