See the moon rise over Simonsberg, on Friday February 24, meeting at the Dirtopia Trail Centre on Muratie wine estate, between 5.30pm and 6.30pm to start your hike tothe new look-out point on the mountain.
A wine station will serve Muratie’s MCC, cold Dry Rose, Sauvignon Blanc and Blended Red. Only a 3.5km total loop, makes it family friendly, but make sure you wear good shoes, as there are over 200 steps on the trail.
Pack your snacks, water and cooldrink with your picnic blanket in a backpack, remember a torch and jacket. A coffee station will be open at the Trail Centre when hikers return between 8pm and 8.30pm. Tickets for the Sunset to Full Moon hike are at www.dirtpass.co.za or Quicket.
Stellenbosch offers so many trails to outdoor enthusiasts, and Dirtopia team has built beautiful singletrack on Morgenhof Estate as well. Run a 7km or 11km here on Sunday February, as the Pop-up Collective market is also taking place from 10am.

February has an ‘extra’ day in 2024 and just for fun, trail runners can do a specially marked 7.5km route from Muratie at dusk on Thursday February 29, starting from 6.30pm for only R100 pre-entry with lucky draws and refreshments.
The several marked routes from Muratie are open 7 days a week to the public for mountain biking, trail running and hiking at R60 per person for day permits, opening early on summer weekends.
