Jeremy D Seigel, Somerset West
I am a newcomer to Somerset West, and have been struck by the disregard and misunderstanding of many drivers, when it
comes to the differences in rights of way for roundabouts/circles and mini traffic circles.
The road signs differ, white circular arrows on a blue circle for the roundabout, and black circular arrows on white background within a triangular rededged warning or yield sign for a mini circle.
For more information visit www.circles.org.za for an explanation of how traffic circles work.
The mini circle is a relatively new concept, and essentially being a four way yield, is quite different from a right of way point of view as compared with a roundabout/circle(large) where you always give way to the vehicle on you right.
The attached photograph, as seen in East London, explains this well.
