Helderberg Hospital recently said farewell to two hospice volunteers after commendable and selfless years of service.
“The volunteers at Helderberg Hospice fulfil an important, varied, and valuable role in our organisation. From being the face of Hospice at our reception desk and answering the phones, keeping our gardens looking beautiful, to lending extra hands to ensure our events run smoothly,” says the hospice.
At the Helderberg Hospice shop in Main Road, Somerset West, the volunteers are on duty to welcome visitors to the shop and offer assistance with shopping choices.
The shop volunteers met at Sage and Thyme on Thursday January 25, to welcome each other to the new year and to say goodbye to two of their volunteers who were retiring after many years of service.
Volunteer Margie Chapuis has volunteered for 17 years, and Bronwyn Hofmeyr for 13 years. “What an amazing gift of their time they have given to Helderberg Hospice. They will be missed at the shop,” the hospice commented about their time availed to the organisation over the years.
