The Hirsch Junior Super Chef competition, now in its second year, is back on the road.
Run in conjunction with the Defy brand, the competition sees children between the ages of eight and 13 vying for the title of Hirsch’s Junior Superchef in all the regions in which Hirsch operates – and is due to kick off in the Cape at their Somerset West branch on Monday May 16.
Ten junior superchefs will cook-it-off to choose the winner and runner up from each branch, and they will come together for a grand “cook off” at the Milnerton Branch on Friday May 20.
Prizes include Defy’s microwave air fryer, juicer, stick blender and pressure cooker, a Snappy Chef knife set and a Zwilling pot set.
Commenting on the reason behind holding the competition on a regular basis, CEO of the Hirsch Group, Allan Hirsch said: “We have been delighted to get involved with co-ordinating this competition, because we’ve noticed a lot of interest from children with regards to the cooking appliances that Hirsch stocks.
“We want to assist with the encouragement of young chefs and have been blown away with their ability to demonstrate the use of recently launched products in front of an audience.”
