Birding course The contents of the Flight for Birders, Flight Higher and The Secret Life of Raptors courses by Dr Anton Odendal have been adapted for several shorter courses each consisting of five individual one-hour sessions.
These are being presented online via Zoom and can be enjoyed in the comfort of your home.
The Getting more out of birding lecture series is aimed at celebrating bird-watching at some of South Africa’s top birding destinations. Several national parks and public and private nature reserves will be featured at a time when over-night stays at these destinations remain a problem.
The rationale behind this series is to enjoy many brilliant species to be found in these reserves in the comfort of one’s home and to give guidelines on how to prepare for day-visits to these wonderful places.
Guidelines will also be given on how to prepare for extended visits to these reserves once the Covid-19 restrictions are behind us.
The first course contents and dates of presentation are as follows: Saturday August 15, at 9am, Our favourite Kruger National Park birding experiences; at 11am, The West Coast National Park (Part 1) in winter and spring – much more than just waders; at 2pm, Birding in the Tankwa Karoo (Part 1) – Birding along the R355 and the P2250 gravel roads. On Sunday August 16, at 11am, How to prepare to go birding in the Karoo National Park; and at 2pm, Birding at the De Mond Nature Reserve – The Western Cape’s hidden gem.
