Len Walker, Somerset West
I read with interest Phil DuBert’s letter (“Camino convert”, Bolander letters, October 10) and I did Google “Camino South Africa” and I must agree there are some beautiful walks listed and many of those walks I have already done myself. I do note that it is recommended that people walk in groups with a local guide.
The difference with the Portugese or Spanish Camino is that thousands of people walk by themselves and without a guide and in that way pilgrims who are there to overcome a problem in their lives endeavour to discover the mystical solution to their problems.
While the Cape Camino is a wonderful concept with its lovely walks the ideals are somewhat different.
