Pupils from Reddam House were invited to attend school barefoot, or in socks, last Friday, to try to appreciate the discomfort that many South African children endure on a daily basis. The pupils in the Junior Preparatory wore their normal school uniform, but adorned their feet with khoki drawings, ribbons, tattoos and paintings. The College pupils donned interesting socks. Senior pupils collected shoes and socks. In keeping with the school motto “We Shall Give Back”, Reddam has again supported the many underprivileged children on their doorstep. It is estimated that around 17 000 children in the Western Cape alone do not have school shoes to wear during winter.
