I’ve attached a photo to illustrate the pathetic programme of the City of Cape Town to repair potholes in Abelia Road.
The lower one, near Heldervue Shopping Centre, has already been hollowed out, resulting in very sharp edges that can damage car tyres, wheel alignment and suspension.
At night in particular, people not aware of this donga can hit it at 60km/h .
Higher up near Steynsrust Road is a pothole that has been steadily growing bigger during the last three weeks.
One often sees cars swerving violently at the last moment to avoid the pothole.
Then the municipality fines people for minor speed infringements. Who fines the municipality for their contribution to road safety hazards?
