The Cheetah Outreach Trust is once again hosting its annual golf day fundraiser, at De Zalze Golf Course, on Friday April 15.
This will help to raise money towards the conservation of South Africa’s valuable cheetah population.
There are only 6 600 cheetahs estimated to be left in the wild, so every effort must be made to conserve these valuable predators.
Cheetah Outreach was established by Annie Beckhelling in 1998.
The work of the trust is focused on environmental education, advocacy for the elimination of illegal trade in cheetah, scientific research and reduction in human-wildlife conflict through the placement of Anatolian Shepherd livestock guardian dogs.
These dogs successfully deter predators from taking farmers’ livestock, thereby eliminating the need for lethal predator controls. This protects vital farmland habitat for the cheetah without the threat of persecution.
The Cheetah Outreach facility in Somerset West engages visitors and school groups, raising awareness through tours and ambassador encounters (with both cheetahs and other farmland predator species) regarding predator conservation through the use of non-lethal control methods.
To ensure this vital work continues, Cheetah Outreach would like to have a full field at their golf day. The event is open to all players for a fune day with friendly competition, great networking opportunities and most importantly, raising funds for cheetah conservation.
To play in a four-ball team the contribution will be R3 500 which includes half-way house refreshments and a delicious buffet dinner. There is also the chance to win prizes and bid on auction items.
Teams can also have their photograph taken with a cheetah ambassador to make the experience unforgettable.
