Janine Tessendorf has been appointed the new head of Reddam House Somerset.
She takes over from Gavin Budd who left Reddam House at the end of 2018. Ms Tessendorf joins Reddam from Somerset College where she was deputy head of academics and pastoral care for 10 years.
She completed a BSc (biological and life sciences) Honours and H.Dip.Ed (PG) at the University of the Witwatersrand.She was awarded the SA Breweries Gold Medal for Top Honours Student in BSc biological and life sciences in 1991, receiving 100% for her Honours dissertation. Shortly thereafter, she began her career in Johannesburg as head of department at Edenglen High School from 1992 to 1999, after which she was appointed a director at St Stithians Boys’ College from 2000 to 2007.
Ms Tessendorf regards teaching as her calling, and her passion for the field is evident in her tenacity to strive relentlessly beyond expectations.“Building relationships with staff, students and parents is vitally important. It is my desire to encourage students to embrace academia – and not fear it,” she says.
