Emma Rubidge, 14, is a pupil at the Gail Hattingh School of Ballet in Somerset West. Last year, Emma was awarded a scholarship to attend the American Academy of Ballet (AAB) – 2016 Summer School of Excellence, in New York.
The dance students stay on a University of Dance campus and dance for up to six hours a day, six days a week. Ballet dancers from different countries around the world have to audition to attend the AAB Summer School and South Africa will be represented by 29 talented dancers.
All forms of dance will be taught by international dance teachers. Emma departs towards the end of June and will be in New York for four weeks.
