The City is once again calling upon potential students to apply for external bursaries to undertake tertiary studies in 2017.
Bursaries are being offered for full-time studies at approved tertiary institutions to persons residing in the greater Cape Metropolitan area.
Students who will be registering for an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree or a diploma in 2017 are welcome to apply for assistance.
Each bursary value will be determined by the actual fees – registration, tuition and examination fees, and the cost of books to the value of R4 000.
“Students have a choice of over 40 fields of study in areas where the City has identified critical and scarce skills shortages. Our external bursary programme is part of our commitment to building an opportunity city by encouraging further studies and supporting skills development,” said the City’s Mayco Member for Corporate Services and Compliance, Xanthea Limberg.
Successful applicants will not be required to repay the bursary, but a service obligation to the City is coupled to it.
The programme enables progress for future generation by providing funding to those who might not otherwise have been able to study further.
The fields of study and the application forms are available at www.capetown. gov.za/careers, under the Bursaries tab.
Application forms can also be obtained from the following municipal offices and at all City libraries: Helderberg Municipal Office, First Floor, Human Resource Division, Corner Main Road and Fagan streets, Strand.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday August 31, and completed forms must be returned by this date.
No late applications will be accepted. Students who do not have access to a computer, can make use of the City’s Smart Cape computers, which are available in all libraries.
All registered users are allowed 45 minutes of free Internet access which may be extended dep- ending upon the demand on the day.
