CLOUD GATES @ 3RD i Gallery
Thursday December 1 heralds another “First Thursday” in Cape Town, and 3RD i Gallery in De Waterkant will be hosting Somerset West artist, Lesley-Ann Green’s ongoing exhibition, Cloud Gates (part 1).
The exhibition opened in mid-November, and runs until January 2023.
3RD i Gallery has been showcasing art for 30 years under gallerist, Sharon Peers. The building itself is one of the oldest in the city.
Within its walls (which in themselves are a work of art) one can sense the history of our Mother City and the imprint of past artist’s work.
The redesigned and intimate space is a perfect contrast for the vibrant colour in Ms Green’s art, which has been called whimsical and quirky.
Seemingly unrelated images are superimposed against vast backdrops of empty or cloud filled skies. As a guest at the opening remarked, “You are drawn to grow into the space in the work”.
