The National Youth Music Foundation (NYMF) presents the inaugural concert of the young artists’ concert series on Friday July 27 at Erin Hall, 8 Erin Road, Rondebosch at 7pm.
This concert series aims to give prize winners of the annual National Youth Music Competition (NYMC), a platform to further develop their talent and careers.
“We have so much talent among our young people, and if we can give them opportunities to perform and gain confidence as performers, our classical music future looks very bright,” says NYMF chairman, Michael Maas.
The first concert will feature, clockwise from top left, 15 year-old Gilah Kellner, violinist from Johannesburg and winner of last year’s NYMC; Emilio Lorenzo, marimba player studying at the University of Stellenbosch and winner of the second prize at last year’s NYMC; clarinetist, David Cyster, who is in Grade 12 at El Shaddai in Durbanville and was winner of the woodwind section in 2017; and saxophonist, Cameron Williams, who was the overall competition winner in 2016 and is currently a music student at the University of Stellenbosch.
Tickets cost R120 for adults and R70 for students, scholars and pensioners. Book through Computicket. The ticket price includes a complimentary glass of wine or juice.
