The Rotary Family Health Days were held over three days at the Legacy Centre in Kayamandi, and atended by 596 residents of all ages.
Different services were provided including examination of eyes, which was in high demand.
Ophthalmologist Dr Junet van der Merwe, and optometrist Myrtle van Neel led the team of nurses and carers, and over 50 pairs of reading spectacles were handed out, and people with severe eye impairments were referred for specialist treatment.
One teenager seen by ophthalmologist Dr Mervyn James has received free medical consultations and prescribed eye medication.
Ms Van Neel carried out further investigations at the Van Steel Clinic on nine teenagers, resulting in seven of them being fitted with prescription spectacles, and one youngster received treatment and prescribed medications.
The president of Stellenbosch Rotary Club, Zelda Ellis, with the contribution of Ms Van Neel, funded the project and sponsored treatment and spectacles.
