Dust off those walking shoes, put on your pink clothes, and take part in the Pick n Pick Women’s Walk on Saturday February 25 in Stellenbosch, as part of the Stellenbosch Wine Festvial.
The starting point is the Coetzenburg cricket fields, at 8am, and the fun 5km walk isn’t timed so you can do it at your own pace.
Men and children are invited to join in the fun too – everyone is welcome to sign up and support PinkDrive, an organisation that works to provide breast cancer patients around South Africa with with examinations and education. PinkDrive has a station at every walk where they offer free breast examinations, as well as the opportunity to talk to a representative about any breast-related matters.
A walk village will be set up on the Coetzenburg cricket field, which will also be where the walk finishes. There will be a host of fun activities on the day, including live entertainment. Food will be on sale before and after the walk.
Afterwards there will be lucky draws, and a “best-dressed” prize, To round off the day, everyone who finishes the walk will be presented with a medal and a bag of goodies.
Sign up at Pick * Pay, and take your walk number to the Stellenbosch Wine Festival on Saturday February 25 or Sunday February 26, and only pay R100 (usual price R190) for your festival ticket.
Children aged 12 to 17 with a race number get free entry.
