The Western Cape Artists Society invites the public to their brief AGM followed by a watercolour demonstration by Stephen J Quirke.
The event will take place on Thursday April 11, at 6.30pm at the Rotary Club Hall, Lourensford Road, Somerset West. Arrival time is at 6pm for 6.30pm.
Visitors are welcome, and members pay R20, and non-members pay R30. Tea and coffee will be served.
The society is excited to host Stephen as their demonstration artist.
In the mid 80’s, Stephen went to Swakopmund he saw a breathtaking watercolour on exhibition by a highly skilled local artist who offered watercolour classes. Stephen signed up immediately and so began his artistic journey.
In 1998 Stephen held his first solo exhibition in Swakopmund. Stephen facilitated workshops for teams to set strategy, launch projects and deal with team dynamics.
Then in 2020 with 35 years in watercolour, a discipline of one watercolour a day and a rich body of work, he laid a plan before God, contracted with his wife, and stepped into his role as artist.
In August 2023 Stephen was awarded “Best Watercolour” at the Annual exhibition of South African Society of Artists and in February 2024 “Best Watercolour” in WCAS Annual Exhibition.
Stephen teaches Watercolour, exhibits solo, and with art associations.
