Backsberg Wine Estate near Paarl will host a series of picnic concerts in February and March. The concerts take place outdoors on the lawn. Backsburg will be offering pre-ordered picnic baskets as well as a food court for guests who prefer to purchase food at the venue. Food truck, Die Worsrol, will be serving up German, Asian and vegetarian option. The Lickity Split food truck will offer a selection of Belgian waffles, ice creams and hot drinks. There will be fun activities for the kids including a flower-crown building station and a play area complete with a jumping castle and face painting facilities. Each guest 18 years and older will receive a complimentary glass of Backsburg wine included in the ticket price, and wine and soft drinks will be on sale. No alcohol from outside may be brought onto the premises, and alcohol will not be sold to persons under the age of 18. Entry ranges from R190 to R220 and tickets are available through Quicket. Pre-ordered picnic baskets must be booked through Quicket. The concert line-up is: Sunday February 10 – Shortstraw, tickets cost R200; Sunday February 17 – Bottomless Coffee Band, tickets cost R190; Sunday February 24 – Zolani from Freshlyground, tickets cost R200; Sunday March 3 – Beatenberg, tickets cost R220; and Sunday March 10 – Opposite the Other, tickets cost R190.
