Monday January 4 was a special day for Helderberg Hospice, when the official opening took place their new, spacious shop, where both of the previous shops had been amalgamated.
For shoppers walking into the store, they are met with a welcoming, practical lay out, and the friendly staff are there to greet you and offer assistance.
All Covid-19 protocol is strictly adhered to, masks must be worn, sanitizer is available as soon as you enter the shop, and social distancing is encouraged.
From furniture, books, clothing, household appliances, kitchenware and shoes to bedding, linen, records and jewelry – all these and more can be found, at bargain prices.
Helderberg Hospice shops generate 45% of their annual income, and they are a critical component of their annual fundraising. The public’s ongoing support over the years translates into specialised care that is given to those in the Helderberg community living with a life-threatening illness.
Visit their store on Main Road in Somerset West, spend some time browsing through the many interesting and varied items, and drop off any items you no longer use, or just pop in to have a look around and a friendly chat with the staff and volunteers.
I stepped out with an armful of lovely clothes and other items, all earmarked as gifts for friends, and it this shop will continue to be a regular stop for me on my rounds in the greater Helderberg.
