The Prestige Series of the Endler Concert Series will feature Lukas Vondracek, who was the winner of the International Queen Elizabeth Piano Competition 2016. He will hold a solo recital on Friday June 9, at 8pm, in the Endler, Stellenbosch. Lukas made his first public appearance at the age of four. His debut as a fifteen-year-old in 2002 with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy, was followed by a major US tour in 2003. In 2012 Lukas scooped up many awards at the 12th Unisa International Piano Competition. Since then he has been a regular visitor to South Africa on concert tours. His programme for the Endler includes Novak’s Memories, Op. 6; Liszt’s Transcendental Etude No. 9; Ricordanza; Chopin’s Scherzo No. 1, Op. 20, Brahms’ Scherzo, Op. 4 and Brahms Sonata No. 1 Op. 1.
