■ The Helderberg Village Music Society is holding a concert at Talani Terrace on Sunday July 2, at 4pm, with a piano recital by Sulayman Human, right, who has won numerous competitions and scholarships. Sulayman was the first to win the Lionel Bowman Beethoven Competition while still a high school pupil, and has won first prize in several national piano competitions, including the Hennie Joubert, Artscape, Atterbury, SACS and ATKV Musiq. He also won the Mabel Quick Overseas and the Graham Beck scholarships from Stellenbosch Conservatory, which enabled him to receive master classes from Jura Margulis in Salzburg. He was awarded first prize at the Fine Music Radio Music Bursary Competition this year. He studied with professors Nina Schumann and Luis Magalhes, and received master classes from international pianists Anton Nel, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Ilya Friedberg, Aviram Reichert, Leslie Howard and Marina Lomazov.
