A big thank you to all the artists who have faithfully exhibited with us at the the Bright Street Gallery in Somerset West, and also to all our buyers and visitors.
We cannot do this without your valued support, and praise God we have been open for almost a year now!
We have a large variety of work which is constantly changing. The art is well priced and ranges from the low R100s to R1000s… perfect for buying an affordable lasting gift for a friend or to bring beauty to your own wall at home.
We are always looking for more artists, sculptors, ceramicists and more. Artists typically stay for three months or more, and we have a low monthly hanging fee.
We have tried to work on a fully non commission basis but sadly this concept is not able to sustain us. So from May 2024, we will be instituting a 10% commission on sales.
Artists are asked to work a four-hour shift at the gallery once every two or three weeks, but only if they are able to. This saves us paying gallery staff.
All artists are welcome, including grade 10 to 12 pupils. Please bring your work to us, it is better than gathering dust in your own home.
We rely on our artists to do their share of marketing, social media exposure and spreading the word about our friendly gallery.
Currently we have over 30 artists but need about 10 more for us to function well. Will you be one of those 10?
We are also willing to take in artwork that you have previously bought and want to sell.
Art lessons are available with myself and other artists, for private, small groups, children and adults.
Our venue is also open for after-hours events, for example small celebrations and year-end functions. Please come down and have a look, our facilities are ample and adequate for entertaining and serving.
Our opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.We are taking a break from First Thursday and Second Saturday events, as well as our Memory Cafe.
This is a tough yet vital industry, let’s pull together and uplift one another; too many galleries have closed down in the last few years. Let’s collaborate, connect and build up our local art community.
