Strand Nippers do well

Strand Surf Lifesaving club hosted a Nipper carnival on Sunday January 27, with clubs from all over the Western Cape showing their strength in beach and sea events. The Strand under 11-12 age groups were the overall winners. Chris Kemp, Aiden Laubser and Matthew van Romburgh won the under-12 mixed 

Talpin event, with Liam Clarke, Aiden Laubser, Matthew van Romburgh and Franz Wetzl winning the mixed beach relay event in the under-12 age group.
Adam Meintjies, Liam and Cullen Clarke came third in the under-12 mixed Taplin event. Kendra Beresford won the under-12 beach sprint event, while Aiden Laubster won the under-12 boys’ surfswim event and came second in the body board event. Ashley Hingeston came second in the under-11 girls’ beach sprint event and third in the surf swim event.
In the under-11 boys’ age group, Matthew van Romburgh came second in the beach sprint event and the body board events, with Gert van der Walt ending in third place in the beach sprint event. Strand ended sixth and fifth place respectively in the under 13-14 and under 9-10 age groups, with a handful of competitors. Jemma Boettger came third in the under 14 girls’ body board event, with Ansty van Romburgh winning the under-13 girls’ body board event and ending in third place in the beach sprint event.
