Sports Against Crime South Africa held a netball tournament in Fern Street, Broadlands Park, Strand on Saturday September 12 with the support of Secure Rite Security of Somerset West. This community has been experiencing random shootings related to gang activities lately. Vincent Daniels of Sports Against Crime South Africa hosts sports events in the community as an alternative to drugs and crime for young people. Mr Daniels believes that sport teaches principles such as hard work and discipline which is often lacking in the youth, a view supported by Secure Rite Security, says Herman Ras. Secure Rite supervisor, Asrah Fredericks, and the motorcycle crime prevention squad, Rohan Nolte and Colin Maritz, were at the event.Â
