Multiple Sclerosis South Africa (MSSA) received a welcomed donation of R45 000 thanks to swimmers who participated in the 5th annual Sanlam Cape Mile, at the Eikenhof Dam last Sunday. Amongst these entries were Claudia Dieckmann and a group of 23 swimmers, seven of whom have Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and who competed in support of MSSA. Dieckmann was diagnosed with MS in 2011 at the age of 31. MS is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. Â
