Boland Fly Fishing is hosting the 2018 South African Fly Fishing Association (SAFFA) Youth Fly Fishing Nationals in the first week of October, from Du Toits Kloof Lodge, just outside Rawsonville – where the Cape Streams at the Du Toits Kloof Lodge and Lakenvlei dam in Ceres will be the venues for the competition. Teams from Gauteng North, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, Eastern
Cape, KZN, Western Province and Boland will be competing for the title of national champion. This year is special, as they also have a team from the Czech Republic in attendance. Seventy of South Africa’s top youth anglers are expected to participate. The Boland Fly Fishing team consists of anglers from Somerset College, Paul Roos, Parel Vallei, Boland Landbou and Paarl area.
Boland have been the national champions five times since 2009. The Youth World Fly Fishing Championship is being held in Poland during August, and Erik Roos from Boland Landbou, and Dylan Elliot from Somerset College, were selected to join the Protea squad to represent South Africa.
