The Reddam House Senior Preparatory pupils participated in a writing workshop for Mandela Day, and will write their stories which will be collated into a book, and the proceeds will be given to the Young Bafana Bafana. The college pupils brought and chopped up a stack of vegetables to make up 86 soup kits for the residents of Chris Nissen Park. Grade 11 pupil Aqeel Dramat elected not to celebrate his birthday with the customary cupcakes for his class. Instead, Aqeel and his family donated 100 party packs to the children of Chris Nissen Park. “As I walked around the school, I saw love, laughter, energy, promise and hope. I felt a deep sense of pride in our children, our parents and our staff. I took in the smiles and shouts of glee when we handed the sweets over to the toddlers at a crèche in Chris Nissen Park and the quiet, humble gratitude when we passed the soup packs over to the adults. Yesterday, I felt proud to be a South African and the head of Reddam House Somerset,” said Janine Tessendorf.
