Huis Soeterus se jaarlikse basaar vind plaas Saterdag 9 Maart, om 9vm, by Huis Soeterus, Oliverstraat 8, Strand. Daar sal ‘* springkasteel en lekkergoed vir die kleinspan ook wees. ’* Nie-winsgewende tehuis vir bejaardes, Huis Soeterus is grootliks afhanklik van fondsinsamelingsprojekte deur die jaar. Donasies uit die gemeenskap is versoek, om by te dra tot ’* suksesvolle fondsinsamelingsprojek. Moontlike bydraes of donasies behels tuisgebak, handwerk en enige verpakkingsmateriaal vir verkope. Vrywilligers wat op die dag kan uithelp is ook benodig. Bright Street exhibition

An art exhibition of oil paintings by students of local artist Bettie Nieuwoudt is currently on at the Bright Street Gallery in Somerset West, until Saturday February 23. Bettie has been teaching at the workshop of The Crafters Inn in Somerset West for 15 years. Her art career started some 40 years ago in Zimbabwe where she was known for her landscape works. The Reach for Recovery Breast Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday February 28, at 9.30am for 10am, at the Mediclinic Strand, Altena Road, Strand. Talk on valuations

The U3A Money Matters group will meet on Monday February 25, at 10am, at Room 45, Urban Voice, corner of Sir Lowry’s Pass and Schapenberg roads, Somerset West. The talk is on how to deal with the municipal valuation for 2018, which is now open for public inspection. The speaker is Francis Clerke. Members pay R10, and non-members pay R20. Women’s World Day of Prayer

The 89th Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held on Friday March 1, at Somerset West United Church, corner of Andries Pretorius and Bright streets, at 10am, when women from all denominations will gather in prayer and praise using a programme that has been written by the women of Slovenia. The theme is “Come, Everything is Ready”. The guest speaker is Reverend Eleanor Gaunt, and all women are invited to attend.
