Huis Soeterus se jaarlikse basaar vind plaas Saterdag 9 Maart, om 9vm, by Huis Soeterus, Oliverstraat 8, Strand. Daar sal ‘* springkasteel en lekkergoed vir die kleinspan ook wees. ’* Nie-winsgewende tehuis vir bejaardes, Huis Soeterus is grootliks afhanklik van fondsinsamelingsprojekte deur die jaar. Donasies uit die gemeenskap is versoek, om by te dra tot ’* suksesvolle fondsinsamelingsprojek. Moontlike bydraes of donasies behels tuisgebak, handwerk en enige verpakkingsmateriaal vir verkope. Vrywilligers wat op die dag kan uithelp is ook benodig.

Compassionate support
On Monday February 18, The Compassionate Friends, assisting families after the death of a child or sibling, meet in the Training and Development Centre, Vergelegen Mediclinic, Somerset West, at 7pm for 7.30pm. The topic of discussion will be myths about easier goodbyes, and what it really entails to watch your child or loved one losing their battle with cancer or other illness, and the journey afterwards. The speaker is Dianne Waddington of Hospice. Entry is free, and all are welcome.

Recycling of e-waste
Somerset West Neighbourhood Watch (SSNW) is holding a recycling e-waste and scrap metal drive, on Saturdy February 16, from 7.30am to 12.30pm, at the gravel parking area opposite the Somerset West police station. Women’s World Day of Prayer
The 89th Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held on Friday March 1, at Somerset West United Church, corner of Andries Pretorius and Bright streets, at 10am, when women from all denominations will gather in prayer and praise using a programme that has been written by the women of Slovenia.
