Welcome to the board

Carl van der Merwe, cellarmaster and chief executive at DeMorgenzon, has been elected as the industry body Vinpro’s new board member representing the Stellenbosch region, following the retirement of founding member and former vice-chairman Johann Krige, co-owner of Kanonkop. Carl holds a degree in business management and oenology from Stellenbosch University, and has international experience working in Bordeaux, Washington State and China. Johan was vice-chairman of Vinpro from its inception in 2003 until 2016, and remained on the board as the Stellenbosch regional board member, member of the executive committee and chair of the audit committee. Mutle Mogase, Vinpro specialist director, will take his place on the executive committee.
