On Monday May 8, a public participation meeting took place at the Somerset West Council Chamber, on the proposed informal trading plan for Ward 15.
The area north of the N2 and east of the R44 between the N2 and Main Road, and north of Main Road from The Lord Charles Hotel to Firgrove is not included in the proposed informal trading plan.
This area’s status quo remains and will not be regulated in terms of the proposed informal trading plan. The Business Act of 1991 remains in force, and in terms of the Act, traders may trade in that area.
The area that will be regulated, is south of the roads mentioned above, with four regulated trading sites.
The comment period in respect of the proposed informal trading plan, is from Monday May 8 to Thursday June 8.
