■ The walk undertaken by Somerset West friends John Maclennan and Pat Walsh, from Lands End to John O Groats, has been completed, and after the article in Bolander (“Footing the back roads”, August 9), there was a tremendous response , and they received many messages of support. They reached John O Groats in Scotland on day 76, on August 10, arriving on rather a rainy day, but nothing could damper their sense of achievement. Their walk was a fundraiser for Somerset West Village Garden and the Karoo Foundation, and anyone who would still like to contribute, can visit their Facebook page.
