Kathryn Smith-Derksen with her husband Dan, American Mennonite peace-worker, returns to speak at the Somerset West Unitarian Fellowship, on Sunday August 4, at the Chapel Room, Vonke House, Lourensford Road, Somerset West, at 10.30am. The couple have worked full-time since 2016 with the local not-for-profit organisation SADRA, which brings about conflict transformation in gang-ridden communities in Cape Town. Kathryn will speak on “Understanding our Histories”. Building on her two previous discussions about radical relationships in peace-making and understanding racism, Kathryn will continue challenging us to do our homework in making sense of our world. This presentation will be about the Lwandle protests, corruption, and personal stories, including sharing from her work with SADRA. All are welcome, and entry is free, but donations are welcome. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. For more information, contact Dave Mayes on 021 850 0863 or at davidjeanmayes@gmail.com
