On Friday November 1, the Sustainability Institute, situated in Lynedoch, celebrated its 20th anniversary. What started as an idea to provide a space where people could live and learn together in an ecologically restorative community, the past 20 years has allowed the institute to grow into an environment where people of all ages flourish, just futures are enabled, holistic and outstanding education is offered and positive change is activated in the Lynedoch community. To commemorate this journey, a photo forest of the past 20 years was installed, and guests could view hundreds of photographs showing where the Sustainability Institute started in 1999, and where it is today. The children and youth did dance and song performances. A book has also been put together, reflecting on this 20-year journey. This milestone was celebrated with alumni, students, friends, funders, partners, elders and members of the Lynedoch community – all who have played a part in shaping the past 20 years.
