The Playhouse Theatre in Somerset West presents Arthur Miller’s timeless classic, The Crucible.
Set against the backdrop of the Salem witch trials, this gripping play delves into delves into the complexities of human nature, morality, and the consequences of unchecked hysteria.

The complex role of John Proctor is played by Travis Pitout, bringing a powerful presence to the stage, embodying the conflicted and morally torn character of Proctor.
Travis has been part of the Playhouse Theatre for many years and has entertained audiences in ‘Of Mice and Men’ and ‘Shrek’. Doline Havinga’s portrayal of Abigail Williams is spellbinding, capturing the essence of this complex and enigmatic character. Andrew Goldie is Reverend Hale, his nuanced performance adds depth and insight into the moral dilemmas faced by the characters in Salem.
Gillian Jones’ portrayal of Elizabeth Proctor showcases the strength and resilience of a character faced with the challenges of a society in turmoil. Gillian appeared in the popular ‘Noises Off’ production last year, as did Zané Habig who plays Mary Warren providing a powerful portrayal of a character caught in the web of deception and fear.

For students there are special student nights on Thursday August 29 at 7.30pm, and Saturday August 31, at 2.30pm where they can see the play at a discounted rate. As an added bonus, students can join in for an exclusive Q&A session with the cast and crew immediately following the performance.

Tickets are sold on Webtickets and cost R120 for adults and R100 for students. Show dates are on Saturday August 31 at 2.30pm and evening shows are on Thursday August 29, Friday 30 and Saturday August 31 at 7.30pm.
