Despite the relaxation of some of the lockdown regulations, our healthcare and frontline workers are still working under difficult circumstances, and we need to continue supporting them where we can, and keep showing our appreciation.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, and the support of the Somerset West Neighbourhood Watch (SWNW) Snack Support drive, they were excited to deliver their first snack donations to Helderberg Hospital last week.
Sharon Leo, the CEO of Helderberg Hospital, and Anita Theron, quality manager at Helderberg Hospital, were most grateful to the community, and said that it makes an enormous difference to the healthcare workers to receive messages of thanks and a special treat.
SWNW would like to appeal to the community to continue placing energy bars, granola bars and/or chocolate bars into our collection boxes at the various drop-off points indicated below. Please feel free to also attach a note to help boost morale.
Drop-off points are located at Shell Select (Land-and-Zeezicht), Heldervue Spar, Lion’s Square Spar (Main Road, Somerset West), Disa BP (Lord Charles Hotel), Vergelegen Plein Spar, and Station Bargain Warehouse (corner of Dirkie Uys and Burg streets).
SWNW received so much positive feedback after the thank you boards went up, that they decided to put up additional boards.
Pictured are some of the helpers putting up the signage at Vergelegen Medi-clinic, Bethany Wentzel and mum Jane Wentzel. Bethany is a Grade 7 pupil at Beaumont School, and helping out in the community to fulfil her community service points.
