During President Zuma’s ANC election campaign in the Western Cape, he said “here we have two cities: one for people with nice houses and another for people who live in shacks.”
What he has forgotten or perhaps does not want to remember, was that in 1994 – when the late Nelson Mandela was president-elect, the ANC bused thousands of people from the Eastern Cape to the Western Cape, in the then-successful effort of the ANC becoming the ruling party .
The migrant people were all promised jobs and houses – neither of which materialised – and people are still being bused into the Western Cape on an ongoing basis.
