Somerset West swimmer, Fallon Finlayson, will tackle the arduous 8 Mile Charity Challenge this weekend, during the 2017 Midmar Mile at Midmar Dam in KwaZulu-Natal this weekend.
Invited to swim with the 8 Mile Club for the third consecutive year, Fallon must swim in all eight one-mile events taking place over the weekend, in order to raise funds for her chosen charity, Wildlands: Save the Rhino.
“Growing up in Zimbabwe close to nature, the bush and wild animals have always been close to my heart, and it saddens me when human beings actually kill these beautiful animals for ridiculous ‘medical’ claims,” says Fallon.
“I feel it an honour and a privilege to be able to help conservationists by raising money for the incredible job they do in trying to protect animals, by doing the thing I love so much: swimming.”
Fallon is looking for private and corporate sponsors for her fund raising endeavours, and for private sponsors, there is the chance to win prizes worth over R10 000. Contact Fallon on 076 092 0529 or email her on fallonf@on.co.za for more information about becoming a sponsor.
