Dirtopia has cleared a new look-out area at Muratie wine farm just in time for the Valentine’s Day Sunset Hike later this month.
On Wednesday February 14, hikers participating in the Valentine’s Sunset Hike, will be welcomed at this picnic spot on the mountain with a glass of Muratie’s Dry Rosé.
The trail has markers along the way to follow, and therefore hikers do it on their own pace and time.
Arrival times for this hike on Valentine’s Day at Dirtopia Trail Centre is between 5.30 and 6.30pm in order for hikers to reach the top before sunset at 7.30pm.
Booking tickets online is essential for Valentine’s Day. Hikers stand a chance to win a hamper from FALKE socks in a lucky draw.
Cost for the Sunset Hike on Valentine’s Day is R135 per person including the glass of wine on the mountain and R60 for children under 12.
This trail is a circular 3.5km in total and only about 2.2km to the look-out point where the wine station will also have white and red wine for sale per bottle or per glass.
Hikers are welcome to bring their own snacks and cooldrinks to the top where they can relax with views of the sun setting over Table Mountain surrounded by views of the Winelands, with Simonsberg in the background.
Hikers are reminded to bring a picnic blanket to sit on and a torch or headlight for the walk down. The hike includes more than 200 hand-built steps through the forest, so participants are asked to wear proper walking shoes for the various terrain on this singletrack.
A coffee station will be open at the Trail Centre when hikers return between 8pm and 8.30pm.

The several marked routes from Muratie are open 7 days a week to the public for mountain biking, trail running and hiking at R60 per person for day permits.
