An exhibition titled A Stream of Consciousness opens in the Liebrecht Gallery in Somerset West, on Friday September 15, at 6pm.
With the show, the gallery acknowledges unity in diversity, and diversity in unity, when streams of 55 artists from around the country will flow together, with 275 works.
Included in the line-up are two previous winners of the Absa L’Atelier competition, and also a previous winner and a number of finalists in the Sasol New Signatures competition.
The presentation is uniform, with all works on 18x18cm wooden blocks, and the work of well-established artists hanging alongside that of rising stars. All works are also sold at exactly the same price.
Art philosopher Bert Olivier’s opening address will be on the topics of consciousness, self-consciousness and art, which will also be this year’s Liebrecht Lecture.
The exhibition ends mid-October.
