Strand Nippers shine

■ Strand Surf Lifesaving Nippers ended in fifth place overall, when they competed at the first competition of the year, held at Milnerton Beach, on Sunday January 28. The under-12 age group finished in third place overall, behind Fish Hoek and Llandudno. Ava-Loren van Galen achieved third place in the under-nine run-swim-run event, while Ashley Hingeston came second in the under-10 beach sprint and run-swim-run events, and Mathew van Romburgh came third in the beach sprint event. In the under-11 and under-12 age groups, Liam Clarke won the beach sprint event, came second in the board race and ended in third place in the run-swim-run event. Aiden Laubser came third in the board race and won the run-swim-run event, while Ansty van Romburgh won the beach sprint event and ended in third place in the board race. Annabelle Hamel, Aiden Laubser, Harry Paine and Regan Wille ended in third place in the beach relay event, and Liam Clarke, Aiden Laubser and Ansty van Romburgh came third in the Taplin event, which includes a swim, a run and a board leg.
