The annual Stellenbosch harvest parade takes place on Saturday February 2, starting at the Van der Stel sports grounds at 9am, down Alexander Street to the town hall, where the harvest blessing will take place. The parade returns along Merriman Avenue and culminates in the agri-workers crafts and family day. The parade features marching bands, a drill squad, minstrels, and colourful floats from a number of wine estates including Kleine Zalze, Clos Malverne, Middelvlei, Kaapzicht, Beyerskloof and L’Avenir. The craft expo takes place in the town hall from 1am to 3pm, and entry is free. Handmade homeware, including preserves and bakes, will be on sale from farm stalls competing for the title of “Most Innovative” while TV personality, comedian and performer, Laetitia Solomons, conducts the proceedings as MC.
