Runners, walkers and wheelchair users are invited to participate in Senecio’s annual fundraising fun run, taking place on Sunday May 29, at 8am, in aid of children with disabilities in underprivileged areas in the Western Cape.
The event is back at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West, and promises to be a fun-filled morning for the whole family. Online entries are open for the 10km (R80) and 5km (R50) routes, with a 5km (R50) route specifically for wheelchair users.
Senecio is a non-profit organisation based in Somerset West that offers therapeutic intervention and support to children with physical disabilities in under-privileged areas.
The organisation serves communities across the Western Cape by assisting special care centres for children with disabilities with assessments, therapy and training, and it also hosts outreach clinics in communities where there are no special care centres for children in need.
“Ticket fees for this event goes toward funding the organisation, therefore ensuring that children with disabilities and their caregivers receive the necessary assistance and sustainable care that they deserve. This past financial year we assisted more than 450 beneficiaries,” says Anna van Niekerk, Senecio Director.
The fun run is an ideal event for young and old, fit and unfit as well as people with disabilities to participate together and raise funds for the organisation.
A lucky draw will take place after the event, and participants are invited to enjoy the Lourensford Harvest Market. For more information and entry forms, contact Senecio at 021 852 3856, or visit www.senecio.org.za
