September is Alzheimer’s awareness month and Livewell Care in Somerset West is hosting a seminar in partnership with ADASA (Association for Dementia and Alzheimer’s of South Africa) on Saturday September 14, to share information on various aspects of Dementia.
Family members, friends, carers, nursing staff and other role players who are involved with people living with dementia, are invited to to attend the event.
Proceeds of this seminar are going to ADASA to ensure sustainability for the future, to provide guidance and support to families with persons living with dementia.
Speakers on the programme include Sr Madelein Duvenhage, Regional Manager, ADASA; Dr Deon Greyling, a physician, who will address Dementia, diagnosis and medical treatment options; Arya Rabbipal, a neuropsychologist who will speak about caring for the patients and the carers; Lawyer Andries Havenga, who will discuss legal issues pertaining to the condition; and occupational therapist Lou-Ann van Heerden, who will address the topic of meaningful engagement in Dementia.
