Scholar’s Cup

■ More than 100 teams from all over the world took part in the World Scholars’ Cup Global Round, which was recently held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. Competing in four events (debating; collaborative writing; scholar’s challenge, which is a very difficult multiple-choice test; and the scholars’ cup, a team quiz), teams were ranked according to their overall scores across the entire competition, to determine who would compete at the Tournament of Champions, which is being held at Yale University in November. Both the junior and senior teams (with three students in each team) ​from​ Somerset College ranked in the top 25 of their respective divisions, and thus qualified for this prestigious event.
