Sarah Eichler, a 10-year-old Wellington resident, was crowned Miss Pre-Teen Africa 2019 in Johannesburg on Saturday June 1. She competed in the 10 to 12-year-old category and was judged in casual wear, evening wear and verbal skills. Sarah has been attending modelling lessons for two-and-a-half-years and has a few other titles behind her name, including Little Miss Winelands 2017, Miss Petite South Africa 2018 and Petite Queen of the Universe 2018. Mr and Miss Africa is hosted by Pageants SA, which organises the annual Mr and Miss Junior South Africa competition and will be selecting the Western Cape finalists in Bellville on Saturday August 24. Sarah is bubbly, determined and loves to perform on stage. She enjoys singing, attends ballet classes in Paarl, and is an ambassador of Goodies for Girls, which is a charity organisation that collects and distributes feminine hygiene packs to adolescent, school-going young ladies living in disadvantaged farming communities. In January, Sarah started a “365 Days of Kindness” project. Every day she does something special for different people. Sometimes the acts are small and for individuals she knows, like helping her grandmother make supper, but often they are charitable acts like donating pet food to the SPCA or collecting second hand clothing and non-perishable food for Sarah Louw, who runs a soup kitchen in Paarl. She is also currently raising funds for Elephants Alive by selling button badges at R14 each.
