The City of Cape Town’s Coastal Management Branch is hosting a walk-in information session for all interested and affected residents to view the final plans and project construction timeline of Phase 2 of the Strand Seawall upgrade and refurbishment project.
The relevant City officials will be available on Wednesday October 4, (today) at the Strand Municipal building to answer any questions residents may have.
The second phase of the Strand Seawall upgrade and refurbishment project involves the construction of an upgraded seawall, promenade, beach access points and associated infrastructure along Beach Road.
This Phase two project starts at the Strand Pavilion building and ends at Greenways, the planned work is similar to that of Phase one of the project that has already been completed between Da Gama Street and the Strand Pavilion.
The information session will be from 4pm to 7pm at the Function Room, 1st Floor, Strand Municipal building, on the corner of Main Road and Fagan Streets, Strand
“Our Coastal Management team looks forward to taking residents through the details of the upgrade project which will be on display at the information session. All the final plans and timelines will be on display for the public to view on the day.
“We encourage residents to visit the open day and ask any questions they might have about this vital upgrade project, which they will be benefiting from within the next few years,” said the City’s Deputy Mayor and mayoral committee member for spatial planning and environment, Alderman Eddie Andrews.
The procurement process for the second phase of the Strand Seawall upgrade is currently under way until July 2024, thereafter the construction phase is set to commence in October 2024 until October 2026.
