The weir at Morgenster Estate, in Somerset West, is completely hidden by the massive water flow over it, extending up the driveway on either side, and reaching up to the historic entry gate, behind the two black metal posts in the front of the picture. A number of huge trees were also blown over in the galeforce winds, during the height of the weekend storm.
The post showing the highwater marks next to the Lourens River, which has overflowed its banks many times over the years, most spectacularly in mid-November, 2015, which resulted in extensive flooding in the area, including extensive damage to Vergelegen MediClinic, which was subsequently completely rebuilt.
