■ Commander Chris Lowther recently visited the Parel Vallei High School Grade 12 science department to do a presentation about the Bloodhound Supersonic Car (SSC), a British-designed car built by a group of scientists and engineers in an attempt to break the current land speed record. They hope that this car will be able to go faster than 1 609 kilometres an hour. If they can achieve this, the Bloodhound SSC will be the fastest car on the planet.
